I know the shipping was free and I guess the old adage is true, you get what you pay for. I received my Rowenta IB6100 Precision ironing board in the worst packing I have ever seen. A single layer of thin plastic was the only wrapping. The ironing board cover was ripped and I had to order a new cover. You could tell the package had received the typical handling by the shipper. I could try to return the ironing board and pay all the additional shipping charges. I could spend a lot of time and effort trying to fix the negligent packing job. However, I will just go to another site, not amazon.com, and order a new cover. I will never order from Amazon.com. I have been leery of the quality than might be associated with amazon.com for some time and thus I had never ordered from the site. Well I was not disappointed it was a horrible experience. Total cost for the ironing board was $74.97 plus $27.00 for a new cover for a total of $101.97 They will probably not post this one – lol.

I have trouble believing earlier reviewers who say how sturdy this product is. It arrived with dents on it the first time, and a bent iron rest the second. Needless to say I’m done with amazon as far as ironing boards. “New” means undamaged as far as I’m concerned.

She said it is the best she ever had. Nice, wide, stable. Much better than the junk you find in discount retailers. Big national chains never have them in stock. Got it from Amazon, no problems!

Gave it a 4-star.
- quite sturdy.
- does not wobble.
- nice and wide.
- cover is decent quality.
- catch holds the legs firmly.
- height is fully adjustable in reasonable increments.
A lot of the nitpicking is just that, but it’s not (to my thinking) an $80 ironing board. Could see $50 – 60.
However, certainly better than the cheapos from big box stores.
In other words a good piece of work but not quite up to my expectations based on the reviews. You won’t be disappointed over the long haul, but the immediate impression is not quite as brilliant as you want it to be.

The board itself is fine. The cover is cheap, not so good. The spring to let the ironing board up and down is on the wrong side of the board. VERY inconvenient and awkward to try to open the board up. Spend the extra and get the better board and cover!
